Information:
Herb and fruit tea in some circles is considered a new type of tea. This particular tea was specially formulated to acknowledge the great taste and known health benefits of blueberries. In addition to the antioxidants in the blueberries, hibiscus brings the added benefits of Vitamin A and C to the blend. Bingo Blueberry will accommodate the tastes of people who want to experience a refreshing healthy new style drink without caffeine. It is excellent hot as a hot drink and simply dynamite as a cold drink. You will want to add a pinch of natural cane sugar as this accentuates the natural flavorings and brings out the subtle tastes of the dried berries.

Blueberries are a rich source of antioxidants. This property plus the fact that they taste great make them very popular. You might be interested to know that it is not simply the human race that thinks blueberries taste great. You might ask, how can we be sure of this... well, not many years ago a friend of ours by the name of Jeanine Vanbeveren was picking plump ripe juicy wild blueberries in the semi forested fields behind her house in Northern Ontario. Unbeknownst to her, a 400 pound black bear and her two cubs were doing the same thing on the other side of the thicket that separated the two parties. It seems that the bear’s needs were greater than Jeanine’s as when she became aware of the bears she beat a hasty retreat. PS. We sent Jeanine a pound of Bingo Blueberry after we formulated the blend with a little note reminding her that this is safe to drink.

A selling tip: Sample this tea in your shop. Prepare as a hot concentrated brew (2 quarts) sweeten with 5 teaspoons of natural cane sugar, fill up a pump style insulated air-pot with ice, the pour the concentrated brew over the ice. Make 1-ounce cups available for sampling. Get ready for a ‘run’ on your Bingo Blueberry! (The Bingo Blueberry is sampled cold in order that you give an immediate impact of the taste to your customer. Additionally a hot beverage could potentially cause a problem if your customers are allowed to sample without supervision).

Hot tea brewing method: Bring filtered or freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 2 teaspoons of herb & fruit blend for each 7-9oz/200-260ml of fluid volume in the teapot. Pour the boiling water into the teapot. Cover and let steep for 5-10 minutes according to taste (the longer the steeping time, the better the flavor as more fruit and herb flavor is extracted). Garnish and sweeten to taste

Iced tea brewing method (Pitcher): (to make 1 liter/quart): Place 12 slightly heaping teaspoons of herb & fruit blend into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Using filtered or freshly drawn cold water, boil and pour 1¼ cups/315ml over the herb & fruit blend. Steep for 5-10 minutes. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water. Pour the tea into your serving pitcher straining the tea or removing the tea bags. Add ice and top-up the pitcher with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste. A rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced herb & fruit tea is to increase the strength of hot brew since it will be poured over ice and diluted with cold water.

Iced tea brewing method (Individual Serving): Place 2 slightly heaping teaspoons of herb & fruit blend into a teapot for each serving required. Using filtered or freshly drawn cold water, boil and pour 6-7oz/170- 200ml per serving over the herb & fruit blend. Cover and let steep for 5-10 minutes. Add hot tea to a 12oz/375ml acrylic glass filled with ice, straining the tea or removing the bags. Not all of the tea will fit, allowing for approximately an additional ½ serving. Garnish and sweeten to taste. A rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed herb & fruit tea is to increase the strength of hot tea since it will be poured over ice and diluted.

RECOMMENDATION: We recommend the use of our ‘1 Cup of Perfect Tea’ measuring spoon for best results.

FOOD SAFETY ADVISORY:
We strongly recommend using filtered or freshly drawn cold water brought to a rolling boil when brewing all types of tea. Today’s water has been known to carry viruses, parasites and bacteria. Boiling the water will kill these elements and reduce the potential incidence of water-borne illnesses.
